Yuji Naka Arrested On Suspicion Of Insider Trading

The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office arrested Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator and game director Yuji Naka on Friday on suspicion of insider trading.

Specifically, a number of people that have worked at Square Enix have been arrested regarding insider trading

Naka is accused of buying 10,000 shares in Aiming prior to the announcement that Dragon Quest Tact would be developed by the studio.

Likely in the hope that once the news went public, the price of the shares would increase.

While Naka bought 10,000 shares other Square Enix employees, such as Taisuke Sazaki and Fumiaki Suzuki,

bought considerably more and are also suspected of insider trading

Naka is already involved in a lawsuit after he left Square Enix and removed from Balan Wonderworld’s development, so this arrest comes at an obviously bad time.

For many, Naka is best known for his work on and the co-creation of the Sonic the Hedgehog series

as well as being a core member of the original Sonic Team.
